The Government approves the following Resolution:
Article 1 Object
The present Resolution terminates the alert situation throughout the country, based on the evolution of the epidemiological situation.
Article 2 Use of masks
1. The use of face masks is no longer mandatory in spaces and establishments, as well as in public transport passenger transport by land, air, and sea is now a public health recommendation as an expression of civic conscience and responsibility.
2. Without prejudice to the provisions of the preceding paragraph, the competent health authorities are recognized as having the prerogative to to enforce the mandatory use of face masks in spaces and health establishments and infrastructures, in day-care centers and homes for the elderly, under the precautionary principle in public health, as set forth in the Basic Law on Public Health, approved by Law no. 41/VI/2004, of April 5 and amended by Law no. 76/IX/2020, of March 2.
Article 3 Inter-island and international trips to Cape Verde
1. For the purposes of inter-island and international travel to Cape Verde, it is no longer mandatory for passengers and crew members traveling by air and sea to present a valid COVID Certificate, or a negative result from a screening test.
2. For international trips originating in Cape Verde, the requirement for COVID Certificates or testing depends on the guidelines of the health authorities of the destination countries.
Article 4 Entry into Force
This Resolution shall enter into force on the day following its publication (September 14, 2022).
